we decided to take a trip to the zoo for father’s day, and it was a blast.
the weather was a little on the cool side, but i love that sort of weather so it was fine by me. we had a great time, amelie loved the savannah animal paddock (with the giraffes and zebras), and she kept asking to see more while signing enthusiastically. she was less thrilled by the rhinos and hippos, but the grizzly bears caused her to get really quiet. she wasn’t frightened, just extremely observant. the koalas were staying warm indoors, much to dee’s dismay, but we did have a close encounter with a peacock. it was cool! it was interesting to overhear some of the gifts other fathers received for father’s day…interesting indeed.
we finished up the zoo visit at the petting farm, which was a real treat for amelie. she fed a goat and an alpaca. i was so impressed with how brave she was, even when the alpaca nibbled on her fingers a little.
all in all, we had a lot of fun. afterwards, we headed home for a family nap, and then packed up once more for dinner at pizza antica. it was a great day.
we took a few photos. check out the slideshow on flickr.
