Amelie’s artistic adventures

Raising a child opens new doors daily, and Amelie is no exception — she’s deeply fascinated by technology, books, and music. Occasionally she goes into storytelling mode, spinning yarns about all sorts of things.

Yesterday she broke into a story, and I just happened to have my laptop handy so I started typing. I missed the beginning, but here’s a good chunk of her tale:

She went inside another house. Then another. And another. But then there was no one there. There was no people. Then she was scared. So she walked, and walked. All the way around. And then she runned around, and fell down.

Then she peeked inside the house. Nobody was there. Peeked inside another house, and then nobody was there. There was supposed to be the mom and dad and noodles. So she walked, and walked. And she was sad. And she was sad, because she was lost. So she walked and walked, and then she found her family, and she was so glad.

Of course, this borrows a little from her favorite movie Coraline, but she continues to develop the story. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Storytelling isn’t her only form of expression. She’s been known to pick up a camera and snap photos. Here’s a collection of some of her work:

She’s also shot some video that I plan to edit together, but it feels like I should sit her in front of the computer for an hour with Final Cut Pro open and a bunch of her media loaded just to see what happens. Once it’s edited, I’ll throw it up here for everyone to check out.
