LOST // Lighthouse liveblog [DVR edition]
The LOST-pocalypse train keeps on rolling! Last week we broke down the mind-bending episode, The Substitute. Tonight we’re on a West Coast delay (sorry, went to see Shutter Island and grab dinner with Dee), but I’m firing up the DVR and we’re hitting Lighthouse now. Here are the rules, the faux liveblog begins below:
11:32pm — OK, we’re out. Lighthouse was another good episode, although not as mind-bending as last week. Still, another outstanding turn of events. I can’t wait for next week.
11:27pm – And here’s Jacob. “Mission unaccomplished.” Jack needs to know how important he is. I really like Jacob, and I like how he is completely open to Hurley. Wait, someone bad is coming to the temple? Faux-Locke? Back to Claire. Holy cow, she has crazy down cold. Faux-Locke is Claire’s friend…the infection questions continue to spread. (sorry, that was horrible).
11:25pm — Who is David’s mom? Man, he didn’t want Jack to see him fail. Facing the damage his father put on him, “You don’t have what it takes.” “In my eyes, you can never fail.” Why am I so impacted by this episode?
11:23pm — NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Jack cracked…then he destroyed the mirrors. Seems obvious that Jacob wanted this to happen.
11:19pm – The dial needs to be set to 108 degrees. Whoa, what were all those names doing there. Whoa, what was that steeple in the reflection of the mirror?? Whose name is going to be next to 108? Oh man, Jack figured something out. His house? What is the significance?
11:16pm – Dee insists that the lighthouse is the eye of Sauron. All kidding aside, she asks a great question: “Who needs directions to the island?” Oh man, this conservatory scene is super touching. Um, then enters Dogen — the intertwining characters in the new timeline is really compelling.
11:14pm – Oh snap! Jin just dropped the megaton bomb…where’s Kate, there’s gonna be a throwdown! Holy cripes, an axe to the stomach is no fun.
11:11pm — Am I the only one that thought the answering machine scene was pretty touching? Dude, when did Hurley become so freaking meta? I love it! “Old school. You know, you and me, trekking through the jungle…” Wait, Jack’s reason for returning was to try and fix himself? Wow, the lighthouse isn’t a figurative title, it’s LITERAL!
11:07pm — Wow, Hurley hits the nail on the head. Oh shit! ADAM AND EVE!!!! I wonder how far off Hurley is, will there be another time jump? We still don’t know where Bernard and Rose are. Or do we? BTW — Jack’s line about being a terrible father was a little striking. A pretty interesting moment of reflection regarding the coffin.
11:00pm – Interesting, Jack’s discovery of Claire in the new timeline occurs in parallel with the events on the island, sort of. Jin’s wound looked disgusting. This is pretty rough. Wait, who is Claire’s friend? She’s playing crazy pretty well. I mean, at least I’m a little freaked out.
10:56pm — Umm, Claire’s baby proxy (ahem, substitute) is a little on the creepy side, no? Uh oh, will there be a Claire/Kate showdown in the near future? The infection line is pretty awesome. Ah ha! The Rousseau parallels continue, will Jin suffer the fate as her team?
10:54pm — “You have what it takes.” AGAIN with the references! Obi Wan, Indiana Jones…I even love the samurai line. Hurley is all win tonight.
10:53pm — The Dogen-Jacob power struggle is awesome. I love Hurley rising to the challenge, and it’s interesting that we are seeing Jacob legitimized through these interactions. PS — the Indiana Jones line was AWESOME.
10:49pm – Shocker, David has daddy issues. What will be revealed with Jack’s mom? I sense something happening here. Sayid wants answers, rightfully so. Jack the boy scout never backs down from stuff like this. Question: Jack knows he has a sister, but does he know that his sister is Claire? Speaking of Claire, I’m getting hardcore Danielle vibes here. Is she the new Rousseau?
10:47pm — Dogen appreciates honesty, but how does he know that he can trust Jack? Now Hurley is playing another game, tic tac toe. OMG! Hurley is going to get another Jacob mission. Someone is coming to the island and needs directions?! Who? Dee bets Walt…
10:45pm — Jack seems to be suffering some memory loss. Interesting. St. Mary’s Academy, is this his son? David! His son! Ok, who’s mommy?
10:39pm – Queuing up the DVR. How good was Shutter Island? I enjoyed it. Haters.
